Once the vibrant main airport of Athens, the town of Elliniko now hosts a makeshift refugee settlement in the airport's dilapidated ruins. Elliniko is one of the last remaining informal refugee settlements in Greece. Tents sprout beneath "Departure" signs and refugees wander aimlessly through International Terminals that promise a gateway to the rest of the world. The situation borders on the Kafkaesque. Still, the inhabitants of this camp maintain their dignity in the face of international neglect.
